MR Truck Driver/ Yard-hand for family run business that is expanding.

This is a casual -full or part time role, we are flexible with days but would expect you to commit to 3-5 days regularly per week with some Saturday mornings required. Hourly rate is dependent on experience, ability, speed, customer skills. Truck MR ticket is essential; forklift licence is preferred but not essential, we are happy to put the right applicant through the training for this.

The MR driver/yard-hand will be responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the scrap metal recycling yard. Duties include helping customers, sorting and processing scrap metal using hand and power tools, loading and unloading trucks, and maintaining a clean and safe yard environment. The role will be predominantly driving company vehicles to transport materials to and from customer locations. As this is a casual role, we are flexible on your availability and how many days per week you work, so this may fit in with studying days etc.

Experience is desirable but not essential in:

  • Holding a Forklift licence/ ticket
  • Sorting and processing scrap metal operations
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools used in scrap metal processing
  • Dealing with clients including weighing/pricing up their metals.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is a plus

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (other than minor speeding offenses) is required
  • Holding a MR Truck license
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Physical stamina and ability
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • A positive, can-do, problem-solving attitude
  • Must be able to work in Australia to apply.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
