Senior Gravedigger

This role combines cemetery operations with grounds maintenance and leadership responsibilities. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Horticulture, Operations and Grounds and be responsible for:

Core Duties:

• Grave preparation, digging, and backfilling using machinery like backhoes and excavators

• Attending burial services and coffin lowering ceremonies

• Managing crypts, cremated remains placement, memorials, and exhumations

• Horticulture and landscape maintenance including mowing, weeding, planting, and pest management

• Leading and supervising other gravediggers and groundspersons when required

• Liaising with contractors and assisting families and visitors

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years cemetery operations experience

• Relevant gravedigging/cemetery operations qualification

• Current police check and Working with Children Check

• Level 2 First Aid certification and driver's license

• Physical capability to perform demanding manual work
