Your opportunity

We're looking for a highly motivated and self-driven Asset Superintendent - Vessels who will provide leadership to the maintenance team, with the key objective to maximise the availability, safety and reliability of the vessels in line with statutory requirements and Port Authority objectives and goals.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Barangaroo reporting into General Manager- Asset Management

This role will own the maintenance of Port Authority of New South Wales (Port Authority) vessel fleet of 30+ vessels across six ports, being responsible for the asset maintenance strategy, including development and implementation of consistent processes and procedures, and contractor and resource approach and management.

Here's how your impact will truly count:

  • Establish and manage the maintenance strategy for Port authority's marine-based assets including development of procedures, team structure, procurement approach and record and data management.

  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans including resource allocation, work programs, parts and plan management, procurement approach and record and data management.

  • Prepare and manage the annual asset maintenance operating budgets for marine-based assets, ensuring effective planning and cost control.

  • Work closely with the Asset Manager - Marine in the development, implementation and monitoring of asset maintenance standard procedures and practices to ensure Port authority's compliance with statutory obligations as owner and operator of the vessel fleets across all sites.

  • Procure, manage, and monitor outsourced maintenance contracts in line with Port Authority's supplier governance framework, to ensure delivery on agreed key performance indicators.

  • Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, power generation, propulsion and hydraulics

  • Demonstrated strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Experience working in an unionised environment is highly desirable.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical information including specialist reports and engineering drawings.

What you'll bring

Essential Criteria

  • Marine engineering experience, supported by a maritime or trade qualification.

  • Experience leading vessel maintenance teams and coordinating external service contractors.

  • Hold a valid driver's license.

  • Available for emergency support outside regular working hours.

  • Willingness to be based in office 5 days a week

  • A willingness and ability to travel to Port Authority's port locations as required to meet operational needs.
