About us
Outlook is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to building an inclusive society. We empower people with disabilities and those experiencing disadvantage, providing opportunities for meaningful community participation and equal rights.
Outlook Australia's vision is to create an inclusive society for all. We are a thriving, sustainable organisation dedicated to promoting the empowerment of people with disabilities and those experiencing disadvantage. We operate through two key divisions: Community Services, which provides life skills, in-home care, and community access support, and Social Enterprise, which creates employment opportunities for people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
About the role:
We are currently seeking passionate and reliable Direct Support Workers to join our team across the Central Coast region.
You'll provide one-on-one support to people with disabilities or older adults, helping them live comfortably and independently in their own homes.
Key responsibilities:
- Accompany clients to medical appointments, social outings, community events, and recreational activities, ensuring their safety and comfort while encouraging active participation.
- Facilitate meaningful social connections by joining clients for coffee, walks, or other leisure activities, helping to reduce isolation and promote engagement.
- Help plan, prepare, and serve meals according to individual dietary needs and preferences, supporting clients to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
- Support clients with light household chores such as cleaning, laundry, and tidying to help maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
- For qualified workers, assist with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and toileting in a respectful and sensitive manner.
- Remind clients to take prescribed medications on time, and where qualified, assist with administration following care plans.
- Uphold the highest standards of privacy, confidentiality, and dignity when supporting clients, respecting their rights and individual preferences.
- Observe and report any changes in client health or behaviour to the relevant supervisor to ensure timely and appropriate care.
- Work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight as needed, with the ability to choose hours that best fit your lifestyle.
What we are looking for:
- Certificate III or higher in Disability, Aged Care, Individual Support, or equivalent, preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
- NSW Driver's License, comprehensive insurance and access to reliable transport
- A caring, patient, and respectful approach to client support
- Previous experience in disability or aged care (essential if you do not hold an industry qualification)
Why work for us:
- Competitive pay rates with additional allowances
- Salary packaging to increase your take-home pay
- Uniform and laundry allowance provided
- Supportive, friendly workplace culture with long-term employees
- Access to ongoing training and career development
- Employee Assistance Program supporting you and your family's wellbeing
