The Role

Applications are invited for the position of Electrician/Instrumentation Electrician to join the MSF Sugar team on a full-time permanent basis, working a day work roster with shift work when required. This opportunity is located at our Tableland Mill, which is approximately 25km west of Mareeba on the Atherton Tablelands.

The Electrician/Instrumentation Electrician will be responsible for upgrading, maintaining and repairing factory electrical and processes control systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation, calibration and maintenance of electrical equipment
  • Examines, diagnose and modify systems comprising inter-connected circuits.
  • Maintain departments plans, databases and other documentation
  • Commissioning and tuning of electrical systems
  • Fault finding of complex electrical control systems involving some combination of pneumatic, electronic, microprocessor based and/or mechanical subsystems.
  • Lead and participate in special projects as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A current Queensland Electrical Work Licence (Electrical Fitter / Mechanic would be preferred).
  • Basic computer skills required to use the computer-based control systems
  • Ability to read schematics and P&ID's
  • Post trade experience in heavy industry electrical or instrumentation calibration, commissioning and maintenance
  • A strong commitment to safety with involvement in safety/improvement teams

It would be advantageous that you have:

  • Certificate III in Instrumentation with experience in pressure, level, temperature and flow control as well as valve maintenance including electropneumatic positioner calibration and repair.
  • PLC/DCS exposure, in particular ABB DCS and Allen Bradley PLC.
  • HV Isolation and Access
  • Working at Heights
  • Confined Space
  • Leading Hand / Supervisory Experience
  • Other qualifications or prescribed occupational training such as a loader, forklift, dogger
