About Us
Fernbrook School is an Independent Primary and Secondary School (P-10) located on a picturesque campus in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. Fernbrook School came to be because a small group of passionate people held a common belief. We observed from experience that the ways children learn are many and varied. Children need to move, play and explore. They need to feel a connection; to people, to place and to what they are learning.
We found that these things are not being considered or provided for in many current educational models and settings. Our mission is to create a dynamic, creative, engaging learning place for all children. A place where they can feel connected and valued.
About the Roles
We are currently seeking candidates for a range of positions in 2025:
- 1 x Full-time Grade 5/6 Teacher - Part time candidates will also be considered
- 1 x Part-time P-2 Teacher (0.4 FTE)
Remuneration for roles at Fernbrook School are competitive with published state government salaries.
Grade 5/6 Teacher
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience working in an alternative education setting and an understanding of how to relate to and differentiate for students with additional social and learning needs. We look for passionate educators, willing to guide students through a democratic and project-based experience, whilst still implementing clear teaching and assessment practices for the key learning areas. An interest in applying the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach will be required.
Grade P-2 Classroom Teacher
This role will require a load share between two groups - a Prep class for one day and a Grade 1-2 class on another day. Collaborative planning with the P-2 team will be an essential part of the role. Experience and passion in guiding student learning using the Reggio Emilia approach will be a significant advantage. The educator in this role will ideally have experience and an understanding of how to connect with and differentiate for students with additional social and learning needs.
Applicants must have:
- Unlimited rights to work in Australia.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications.
- Current Victorian Teachers Registration (teaching positions only).
- Possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and interact with both adults and students.
- Experience working with students with additional learning needs.
- Experience or an understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach.
- Interest and experience in other alternative approaches to education.
- Be able to work independently but also as part of a dynamic, creative, and collaborative team.
- Effective planning and organisational skills.
- An enthusiastic, self-motivated, and professional attitude.
- Experience in adhering to the Child Safe Standards and a willingness to abide by the school's Child Safety policy.
