The Rockhampton Grammar School is seeking a passionate Secondary Teacher (Music) to join our team in 2026. Brass or flute specialists will be highly regarded.

The Rockhampton Grammar School was founded in 1881 and is an independent co-educational day and boarding school, educating and caring for students from Prep to Year 12, as well as the Early Learning Years. The School is the largest independent boarding school in Queensland and the second largest co-educational boarding school in Australia. The Rockhampton Grammar School has achieved great success in the academic, cultural, sporting and vocational fields over the past 144 years. POSITION TITLE:  Secondary Teacher (Music - Brass or Flute)

REPORTS TO:  Head of Department

The Rockhampton Grammar School offers a competitive salary of up to $147,048.00 p.a. plus super and benefits. (Note: this pay-scale is reflective of the applicants teaching experience in accordance with the RGS EBA).

Teachers are expected to:

• Design and implement curriculum programmes that embrace School's Learning Framework;
• Create a positive classroom environment that enhances student learning;
• Establish and review students' learning goals/outcomes and modify curriculum programmes accordingly;
• Continuously reflect on teaching practices and full participation in the School's Personal Learning Programme;
• Build relationships and share teaching insights with colleagues in order to coordinate activities for students;
• Communicate with parents about student learning;
• Demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to professional development;
• Contribute to the School and wider community through involvement in co-curricular activities;
• Maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

• Maintain valid "working with children" documentation;
• Undergo periodic "national criminal history record" checks;
• Report to management any criminal charges or convictions you receive during the course of your employment that may indicate a possible risk to children and young people.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The successful applicant will be subject to a "Working with Children Check and Criminal Records Check" where applicable. The School undertakes several screening processes to ensure the appropriate protection of children and young people in its care. This includes reference checks, identity checks, qualification check and professional registration checks.

REQUIRED LICENCES/CERTIFICATES

• Registration with Queensland College of Teachers;
• Safeguarding Children Online Training Certificate.
