We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Qualified Skipper, to join our team and help us continue to grow while maintaining our commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
We have multiple Skipper positions available for the right candidate across our brands.
The successful applicant should have sound experience in boat handling.
About the role
This varied position is perfect for an experienced Vessel Master that has completed their Coxswain grade 1 near coastal qualification or higher.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience and responsibilities:
- Skippering the company vessels on Gold Coast Broadwater
The skipper must have a commitment to safety and an understanding of excellent customer service
Ensure vessel and asset presentation is immaculate and equipment in working order
- Delivering engaging commentary on wildlife, natural environment and landmarks around the Gold Coast
- Adaptability & the ability to multitask to make sound decisions on weather patterns, sea conditions, passenger abilities etc.
- Attention to detail & time management skills
- Ability to make safe decisions under pressure
- When not operating vessels, the skipper is a part of a sales team who assists in selling rides, media and assisting customers
- A high level of personal presentation and an outgoing personality is essential
- Maintaining detailed logs and records
- Maintenance reporting and carrying out minor repairs etc.
- Emergency procedures and safety drills
- Strong work ethic and a "can do" attitude
About you
If you are a motivated and dedicated individual, who works well in a fast-paced environment, this job may be perfect for you. We are looking for someone who:
- Holds at least a MAR20321 Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal) qualification, with a minimum 12 months vessel-handling experience
- Passion for being on the water and willingness to embark on a long term maritime career
- Eager to learn new skills and enhance skills already achieved
- A passion for exceptional customer service to make lifelong memories for our guests
- Ability to make safe decisions under pressure
- Works well in a team, and enjoys collaborating with others to achieve shared goals
- Willingness to work a rotating roster that includes some weekends
Minimum qualifications
- Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal) or higher (desirable)
- Engineer MED III or higher (desirable or willing to obtain)
- A minimum 12 months vessel-handling experience
- First Aid, CPR & Advanced resuscitation (oxygen administration)
- RSA Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Drivers Licence that allows you to drive in the state of Queensland and be a competent driver
- Drivers License for heavy vehicles is highly desirable - Light Rigid (LR) or Medium Rigid (MR)
- Valid National Police Check (or willing to obtain)
Availability
Our experiences are available year-round, 7 days a week.
Availability is required during our busiest times, including weekends, school holidays, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and public holidays, as well as evenings.
