Support Workers – Secure Mental Health Unit (Chermside)

Heart-Led Support is seeking experienced and grounded Support Workers to join our team providing services within the Secure Mental Health Unit (SMHU) in Chermside.

This role involves supporting men on their recovery and rehabilitation journey within a structured and clinically supervised environment.

As a Heart-Led Support team member, you'll work collaboratively alongside clinical staff to ensure our participants receive compassionate, consistent, and person-centred care.

What the Role Involves

  • Providing day-to-day support and supervision to men.
  • Encouraging healthy daily routines, personal development, and emotional regulation.
  • Engaging in social, recreational, and skill-building activities that promote independence.
  • Following individual support plans and clinical directions to maintain safety and therapeutic consistency.
  • Maintaining accurate shift documentation and communication with Team Leaders.

We're Looking For

  • Experience in mental health, forensic, or behavioural support settings.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and empathy in high-stress environments.
  • Strong communication, de-escalation, and boundary-setting skills.
  • Active, masculine and health conscious men who can present as a quality mentor/role model.
  • A values-driven approach aligned with Heart-Led Support's focus on integrity, health, purpose, and leadership.

Requirements

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check and Blue Card (or ability to obtain).
  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • Full driver's licence and reliable transport.
  • Availability for rostered shifts including AM, PM, and weekend work.
