The Victorian Animal Aid Trust (Animal Aid) has been serving the local community since 1935, caring for and re-homing countless lost and abandoned companion animals.

A fantastic opportunity exists for a Groomer to join our Animal Aid Team

We are seeking those with a genuine passion for helping people and animals. This role is in a fast-paced team environment and you will need to be able to multi-task to a high degree. Must be available for weekend shifts.

Position Description/Objective:

Ensure the highest standard of pet care and exemplary customer service and communication. Have a genuine care and patience for animals, a meticulous standard of cleanliness and professionalism. Be able to present a neatly groomed animal to client satisfaction. Ability to perform quality grooms quickly and efficiently and provide professional information to clients to generate repeat business sales.

Key Responsibilities:

• Groom all animals as per the procedure manual and VAAT training
• To maintain a safe, secure and clean environment
• Maintain detailed client records
• Reporting and recording of any signs of ill health or unusual behaviour
• Be responsible for the maintenance, cleaning and storage of grooming equipment
• Report any faulty equipment or structural damage immediately to your manager
• Train and supervise assistants, volunteers and trainee staff
• Ensure customer satisfaction, build and maintain cliental trust

Selection Criteria:

• Excellent Presentation
• Grooming skills – Minimum 2 years
• Excellent animal handling skills of all sizes and temperaments
• Knowledge of cleaning and infection control procedures
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and autonomously
• Team skills, and a positive and loyal attitude to the VAAT at all times
• Exceptional client communication skills and able to foster professional relationships
• Have compassion/empathy
• Have stamina, be fit and healthy
