Position Overview:

The ILS Product Lead will be responsible for the planning and execution of all Integrated Product Support (IPS) elements during system design, production and deployment of capability systems and be responsible for leading a team of ILS/IPS Functional Leads to achieve required IPS outcomes.

Primary Duties:

  • Manage and lead a team of IPS (ILS) Professionals.
  • Perform IPS project management and be responsible for IPS matters including all activities in line with Earned Value Management (EVM) as a Capability Account Manager (CAM), in the work packages for:
  • Input and consideration in the design interfaces
  • Planning, Scheduling and implementation for all IPS tasks in cooperation with capability project schedulers
  • Support to Technical Training and Training Devices
  • Maintenance Planning and In-Service Support
  • Serve as the focal point regarding all IPS matters for the Customer, Subcontractors and HDA project team.
  • Co-ordinate all IPS activities from subcontractors through sub-contract IPS content development and related Subcontractor Detailed Information Descriptions (SDIDs).
  • Define the IPS System Requirements in accordance with the contracted support concept to develop and execute the IPS plan to achieve the desired capability availability and other related contracted requirements.
  • Integrate broadly into the Support System/Sustainment Strategy as set by Hanwha Defence Australia for the Australian market.
  • Provide support for facilities planning to ensure all required permanent or semi-permanent operating and support facilities are available concurrently with system fielding.
  • Lead the conduct of studies to define and establish impacts on life cycle cost, funding requirements, facility locations and improvements, space requirements, environmental impacts, duration or frequency of use, safety and health standards requirements, and security restrictions.
  • Evaluation and reporting of IPS performance.
  • Lead the development of required Technical Publications and product documentation, in the format required for the capability project.
  • Ensure that Life-Cycle Costing, Support System and other required capability project data modelling is established and maintained.
  • Provide spare parts and other material supply management.
  • Consider Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation.
  • Provide assistance to management, including hiring and training, and report team performance to program leadership.
  • Other duties as reasonably required.

Note:
The ILS Product Lead will be required to travel to subcontractor and test locations which may be within Victoria, Interstate and Internationally.

Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline or extensive related experience.

Desirable:

  • Master's study in relevant field welcome.

Experience

  • Professional experience in managing Integrated Logistics/Product Support matters for large complex projects.
  • Knowledge with establishing and maintaining IPS (ILS) related software resources.
  • Team Leadership on large technically complex projects.

Skills & Key Attributes:

  • Extensive Defence IPS/ILS or closely related background with a strong IPS domain knowledge.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to operate in a structured, regulated, and security-conscious environment.
  • Meticulous approach to work, with the ability to identify potential risks and issues proactively. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fastpaced environment. Ability to work under tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage relationships and positively resolve disputes with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Strong people leader, generating engagement both internally and externally. Ability to manage large teams and complex programs
  • Flexible and adaptable- Ability to quickly pivot and respond to changing priorities and work within a dynamic working environment.
  • Understand Defence's approach towards sustainment in the Land Domain and how Support System Constituent Capabilities interrelate.
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to review project deliverables for completeness, quality and compliance with established project standards.
  • Cost and quality sensitiveness.
