The Opportunity
We are seeking a Spray Technician to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient application of herbicides to control weeds in a variety of situations through Randwick City. The successful candidate will adhere to relevant legislative responsibilities and best practice related to the application of herbicides, ensure plant is fit for use prior to commencing operation and assist the team in completing relevant tasks when conditions are unsuitable for spraying.

- Demonstrated competence in the safe application of herbicides including adherence to relevant legislation and best practice.
- Demonstrated competence in mixing and applying pesticides using equipment such as backpacks, boom, and high-volume sprayers.
- Demonstrated experience managing a work program, adhering to work schedules, and prioritising works in public open spaces.
- Knowledge and experience in maintenance and management of turf areas.
- Experience in dealing with members of the public.
- Class HR or MR driver's licence or relevant other certified qualifications as determined by the Manager.
- Relevant pesticide application accreditation.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- An ability to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Be self-motivated and show initiative in the delegated areas of responsibility.
- A willingness to comply with all Council's policies and procedures.
- A current WHS General Construction Induction (White) card.
Things You Will Do
- Perform duties with minimal supervision, while also being able to work in a team environment.
- Coordinate and control the activities of staff to ensure that all maintenance works are effectively achieved and are in accordance with Council's specifications and safe work method statements.
- Operate plant and equipment consistent with manufacture's specifications and to ensure the work is undertaken in the most effective manner.
- Ensure vehicle maintenance check sheets are completed daily, identifying and reporting any damage or mechanical repairs needed to Supervisors.
- Make safe and report any instances of vandalism or damage to Council assets and report to Depot administration staff and record CRM number in diary.
- Carry out plant maintenance (i.e. greasing, oil inspection and washing of vehicle).
- At all times drive Council vehicles in a safe manner and maintain a courteous attitude to other road users.
