Shane Jackson Racing is a successful, family-run thoroughbred racing stable based in Warrnambool. Since launching in 2022, we've quickly built a reputation for delivering outstanding results through our personalised, hands-on training approach. We're now looking for an experienced and passionate Horse Trainer to join our growing team and help take our operation to the next level.

About the Role

As a Horse Trainer, you will be responsible for managing the development and performance of thoroughbred racehorses, ensuring they are physically and mentally prepared for competition. The role includes hands-on training, staff supervision, and coordination with vets, farriers, jockeys, and owners.

Key Responsibilities

· Design and implement tailored training programs for individual horses

· Oversee daily trackwork, feeding, exercise, and rehabilitation

· Monitor equine health and liaise with veterinarians and farriers

· Educate and prepare young or inexperienced horses for racing

· Supervise and support stable staff, riders, and apprentices

· Ensure compliance with Racing Victoria and Racing Australia regulations

· Maintain accurate performance, veterinary, and training records

· Communicate regularly with owners on horse progress and race planning

· Coordinate race day preparations, including logistics and strategy

· Represent the stable at races, events, and sales

Skills & Experience

· Certificate IV in Racing (Horse Training) or equivalent qualification and/or

· Minimum 3 years' experience in professional thoroughbred training or stable management

· Strong horsemanship, with a focus on welfare and performance

· Knowledge of Australian racing rules and industry standards

· Current Racing Victoria (or other state) trainer's licence

· Excellent organisational and communication skills

· Current driver's licence
