Senior Software Engineer

This role is critical to the continuous delivery of The Coles Plus subscription service. As a senior engineer you will play a pivotal role in building GraphQL APIs that connect Coles plus to the new services.  This work directly supports a key strategic offering with key deliverables needed to be met. The Coles Plus subscription service covers the cost of home delivery fees for online purchases over $50 from Coles. It also covers any applicable fees for Rapid Click & Collect orders.

Experience

• Senior software engineer with at least 10 years' experience
• Commercial experience with GraphQL is essential
• Expertise in React, JavaScript, TypeScript, REST APIs and other modern web technologies
• At least 3 years' experience leading a team of developers
• Experience working in large scale projects and heavy-traffic platforms
• Ability to drive and enforce software engineering practices
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
• Good exposure to Agile Scrum working environments
• Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Great people person and excellent communication skills

Key Responsibilities 

• Drive the engineering team to develop delivery goals within agreed timelines
• Facility Agile Scrum practices within the team, offer support to delivery managers in defining timelines and project requirements
• Facilitate and govern peer reviews and testing standards whilst empowering and developing the engineering team's skills
• Grow a culture that elicits a high-performing team and a enjoyable working environment
• Working collaboratively with the Business Stakeholders, and Business Programme Managers and Implementation partners to ensure delivery success
