About Us

Sandgroper Contracting is a long-established, family-owned industrial services company with over 30 years of operation in Western Australia. We specialise in liquid waste management, environmental services, and industrial support, operating a large and growing fleet across the Southwest and Perth regions.

As part of a period of significant growth, acquisitions, and increased governance requirements, we are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function and support the executive team with accurate reporting, controls, and strategic insight.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director/CEO, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the end-to-end finance function across Sandgroper Contracting and associated entities. This is a hands-on senior role suited to someone who enjoys both operational finance and strategic involvement in a growing business.


Key Responsibilities
  • Full financial control of the business, including monthly management accounts and year-end reporting
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management
  • Oversight of AP/AR, with cashflow optimisation, payroll, and general ledger functions
  • Financial reporting across multiple entities and business units
  • Implementation and maintenance of financial controls and governance frameworks
  • Liaison with external accountants, auditors, and financiers
  • Oversight of tax compliance (GST, BAS, FBT, payroll tax)
  • Support commercial decision-making, tenders, and capital expenditure
  • Management of the Microsoft Dynamics 365 System including Award Interpretation and Payroll
  • Ensure source data validation and timely data entry into Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Power BI Dashboard management reporting.
  • Provide clear financial insights to support operational and strategic growth
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the accounts and finance team, ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient financial operations
About You
  • CA / CPA qualified (preferred)
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager
  • Strong background in SME or mid-sized, asset-heavy businesses
  • Experience in transport, construction, industrial services, or similar industries highly regarded
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience desired
  • Strong understanding of working capital management and cash-flow-driven operations
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work independently and operate at a strategic level
