We're REA

With bold and ambitious goals,

REA Group

Our people are the key to our success. At the heart of everything we do, is a thriving culture centred around high performance and care. Where the team fits in

As a Data Scientist in the AI Workflows team within the Consumer Experience division, you'll play a key role in designing and evaluating intelligent AI systems that power REA's next generation of personalised and context-aware experiences. You'll help shape the flow of AI-driven features by leading the experimentation process, from model selection and evaluation design to metrics definition and insight generation. Your work will directly influence how we build, refine and scale AI Assistants and decision systems that support users throughout their property journey.

This role is highly collaborative - you'll work closely with teams across Consumer Product, Consumer Experience, Data Services and PropTrack, contributing to REA's broader AI strategy. You will fine-tune models, guide data labelling efforts, and operationalise evaluation pipelines. You'll help build experimentation frameworks that support confident, evidence-based decisions and measurable product impact.

What the role is all about

  • Contribute to the design and development of machine learning solutions for REA's web and app platforms

  • Build and maintain recommendation and prediction models using techniques like deep learning, collaborative filtering, regression and decision trees

  • Help develop and deploy ML pipelines for both batch and real-time use cases

  • Work with cloud-based tools and frameworks such as Python, Docker, and GCP or AWS

  • Participate in model evaluation and monitoring

  • Collaborate with senior machine learning engineers and data scientists to take ideas from prototype to production

  • Work closely with product, engineering and data teams to support AI-powered product features

  • Continue to learn and grow your ML skills with hands-on experience and mentoring

Who we're looking for

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field

  • Some hands-on experience with machine learning, data science or software development projects (through internships, coursework or early professional experience)

  • Familiarity with Python and key ML libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn or PyTorch

  • Understanding of machine learning concepts such as regression, classification, or recommender systems

  • Interest in applying ML to real-world problems like personalised recommendations or user decision models

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (such as AWS or GCP) and container tools like Docker is a bonus

  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and collaborate with others

  • Curiosity, problem-solving mindset and enthusiasm for AI technologies
