We're looking for a hands-on and detail-driven QC Chemist to undertake QC testing in a fast-moving, manufacturing environment. Initially a 12month fixed term contract, for the right person there may be opportunity to convert to a permanent role at a later stage.

The role
On-the-Line Inspection:
- Monitor and inspect products during production to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
- Perform spot checks and sampling of raw materials, in-process, and finished products.
- Work closely with the production team to identify and address defects or irregularities on the line.
Real-Time Quality Control:
- Identify and resolve issues on the production line in real time, ensuring prompt corrective actions.
- Halt production if necessary to prevent the flow of non-conforming products.
- Escalate major quality concerns to the Quality Control Manager.
Testing & Measurement:
- Conduct regular tests and use precision instruments (callipers, micrometres, gauges) to verify product specifications.
- Ensure that products conform to required standards and tolerances.
- Record and maintain accurate documentation of quality control results.
Collaboration with Production Team:
- Work in conjunction with line operators and supervisors to ensure smooth and efficient production while maintaining quality control.
- Provide feedback and training to the production team to help improve processes and reduce recurring issues.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with Australian industry standards, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Enforce the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
Tertiary education desirable with a background in science/chemistry
2 years of manufacturing quality control experience, worked in an assembly or manufacturing environment is essential.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong attention to detail with the ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.
Competence in using quality control tools and measuring equipment.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
Basic computer skills (MS Office) and experience with quality control software.
- Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the production line. Must be able to lift or move up to 20 kg occasionally.
Dexterity and precision when handling testing instruments.
- Work Environment:
- This role is based primarily on the production floor, which may involve exposure to noise, machinery, and other manufacturing conditions.
- Appropriate PPE will be required when working in certain areas or handling specific materials
