Peptide Chemist

Mimotopes has been a world leader in Custom Peptide Technology and Antibody Production. Mimotopes develops, markets and distributes sophisticated biochemical products and services for the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Peptide Chemist to support our research and development efforts. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and synthesising peptides for diverse applications in biological research, drug development, and biotechnology.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Design and synthesize peptides tailored for biological research applications.

· Analyse the structure, properties, and functions of proteins to inform peptide design, including sequence, folding, and molecular interactions.

· Investigate methods for chemical synthesis and modification of peptides, exploring their applications in medicine, biotechnology, and materials science.

· Evaluate the impact of amino acids and their derivatives on peptide formulations with a focus on efficacy, stability, and safety.

· Design and synthesise novel bioconjugates to enhance peptide bioavailability and stability.

· Develop new peptide-based products and optimize existing peptide synthesis, purification, and characterization methods.

· Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on the development of peptide-based drugs, biomaterials, and diagnostic tools.

· Quality Control / Management related to peptide manufacturing.

· Writing SOP's

· Project leadership and report writing

Required Qualification and Experience

· Bachelor's with Honours degree or above in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.

· At least 3 year's experience as a chemist in pharmaceutical industry.

· Proven hands-on experience in peptide synthesis (both solid-phase and solution-phase). Familiarity with different automated synthesisers, including TETRAS and Symphony and liquid handling systems.

· Proven hands-on experience with peptide Purification and Analysis systems including amino acid analysis, MS RP-HPLC , FPLC, ion exchange chromatography. Especially experienced with Gilson equipment.

Required Knowledge and Skills

· Underpinning knowledge in chemistry and biotechnology.

· Strong understanding of protein structure and peptide–protein interactions.

· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

· Basic experience with polymer chemistry and synthesis

· Skills in performing tests and examining products and/or process.

· Strong emphasis on SAFETY

· Detail oriented and observant.

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and via technical and non-technical writing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $78,000.00 per year

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
