About The Role

Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced Inventory Planner reporting to the Inventory Manager, to join our dynamic Procurement & Supply Team. In this role you will play a pivotal part to ensure a seamless and economical flow of parts and materials utilising the SAP ERP. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in inventory planning, strong analytical skills, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and a commitment to driving operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, monitor and optimise inventory levels to support maintenance and production while managing Working Capital.
  • Review daily MRP outputs, action shortages, manage exceptions, and communicate risks to stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Maintenance Planners, Procurement, Purchasing, Warehouse and site teams to forecast and meet material requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers and other Whitehaven sites to secure parts, confirm delivery dates, and source alternatives when needed.
  • Analyse demand trends, consumption history and material movements to improve planning accuracy and reduce excess/obsolete stock.
  • Support master data governance (MRP parameters, duplication checks, data validation) in collaboration with Inventory and Master Data teams.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations, stock reviews, KPI monitoring and variance investigations to maintain strong data integrity.
  • Expedite catalogued materials for critical work orders and shutdowns when required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including exception management, parameter optimisation and critical spares strategies.
  • Use SAP reporting tools to monitor stock availability, open reservations and planning exceptions.

What You'll Bring

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory planning or materials management, ideally within mining, heavy industry or asset-intensive operations.
  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA, particularly MRP and materials management functions.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and working knowledge of Power BI.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to work across Maintenance, Procurement and site operations.
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving mindset, and commitment to data accuracy and continuous improvement.
