About the role

Jungle Zoo Early Learning Centre is seeking a part-time Groundskeeper and Handyman to join our passionate team in Whitsundays, Queensland. In this essential role, you will be responsible for maintaining the grounds and facilities of our state-of-the-art early learning centre, ensuring a safe, clean and visually appealing environment for our children, families and staff.

What you'll be doing

  1. Perform regular grounds keeping duties such as mowing, edging, weeding, and leaf/debris removal to keep the exterior of the centre well-maintained
  2. Carry out general handyman tasks including minor repairs, painting, and maintenance of the centre's facilities and equipment
  3. Identify and report any issues or areas requiring attention to the Center Manager
  4. Assist with the set-up and pack-up of indoor and outdoor activities and events
  5. Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, adhering to relevant health and safety regulations

What we're looking for

  1. Proven experience in a similar grounds keeping or handyman role, preferably within an early childhood or educational setting
  2. Strong practical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and complete a variety of maintenance tasks
  3. Good time management and ability to work independently to complete tasks efficiently
  4. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation
  5. A current driver's licence and your own reliable transportation
  6. Willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check and undergo a National Police Check
