Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.
Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a
multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for an Export Control Officer in Canberra to work on CASG projects
.
What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
Facilitate Commonwealth and Industry access to advanced U.S. military communications technology under export control regulations
Engage with industry counterparts to secure export control approvals and ensure compliance across Defence projects
Prepare export control documentation including Third Party Retransfers and Technical Assistance Agreements
Support auditing and record-keeping of export control agreements to maintain regulatory standards
Assist the Export Control Manager in developing and refining the organisation's export controls management framework
What You'll Bring
Proven ability to interpret and apply legislation and policy within Defence project environments
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across internal and external parties
Experience managing project documentation, including plans, instructions, registers, and records
Demonstrated initiative and autonomy in delivering outcomes with minimal supervision
Knowledge of US export controls, ITAR, and experience with FMS and DCS processes highly regarded
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum
Negative Vetting 1
or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
