Café Supervisor – Lead a Social Enterprise Café with Purpose

Wodonga | Full-time | Purpose-led café management opportunity

The Close Collective Café is more than just a place to grab great food and coffee. It's a community-focused, purpose-led café in central Wodonga where young people learn, grow, and gain real-world experience. Backed by Junction Support Services, the café supports youth programs that help young people build life skills, develop confidence, and create employment pathways.

We're looking for a Café Supervisor to manage the day-to-day operations of the café while playing a key role in mentoring and supporting young people participating in our programs. This is a full-time leadership position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, but also values inclusion, empowerment, and impact.

About the Role:

This is more than a standard hospitality role. Alongside overseeing the café's operations, you'll help create a positive, inclusive learning space for young people participating in programs like:

  • The Orchard Program – 10-week hospitality work experience for young people to build skills
  • Pay It Forward – a meal donation initiative supporting young people in need

You'll work closely with the Social Enterprise & Youth Pathways team to ensure the café operates smoothly while delivering strong community outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily operations of the café, including front of house, kitchen, and catering
  • Mentor and support young people as they build skills and confidence
  • Manage rosters, training, recruitment, and staff performance
  • Coordinate catering orders and maintain service standards
  • Monitor budgets, supplier relationships, and procurement processes
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and food handling standards
  • Oversee administrative systems, emails, ordering, and documentation

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum two years' experience in hospitality management or supervision
  • Qualifications and/or experience in food and beverage service
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Experience mentoring or supporting others in a learning or work environment
  • Understanding of inclusive and strengths-based support for young people
  • Confidence managing daily operations, financial procedures, and team coordination

Why Work With Us?

  • Work in a vibrant social enterprise café making real community impact
  • 5 weeks annual leave (pro rata) plus 17.5% loading on 4 of those weeks
  • Salary packaging available to increase your take-home pay
  • Access to perks like Fitness Passport, training support, and wellbeing initiatives
  • Regular internal supervision and access to professional debriefing
  • Opportunity to be part of something meaningful and rewarding
