About the role

Based in our Subiaco office, the role of  Project Accountant is the end‐to‐end cost management for internal and external reporting deadlines to support the Project Manager. With a direct reporting line to the Senior Project Accountant , the Project Accountant provides support across multiple areas including Progress Claims, Profit and Loss Reporting, Cost Re-forecasting, Risk Management and Commercial Analysis.

Your day-today responsibilities to include;

  • Prepare progress claims for approval by Contract Managers/ Contract Owners and submit to Client
  • Prepare cost allocations against approved budgets, and proactively report on potential budget overruns
  • Provide stakeholders with information to facilitate appropriate allocation of costs as per agreed  Cost Breakdown Structure.
  • Progressive compilation of revenue and cost accruals both internally and to the client.
  • Continuous tracking of cost performance against agreed scope budgets.
  • Track the receipt, and coordinate necessary approvals of project related supplier invoices.
  • Assist in the preparation of Project Status Reports, recommendations/action improvement plan/remedial activity as necessary.
  • Assist in detailed cost forecasts which compare spend against agreed annual budgets.
  • Assist in cost analysis which provides accurate and on time information for internal and external stakeholders to make decisions as required.

About you

  • Accounting qualification is highly desirable.
  • Relevant experience in project accounting techniques and forecasting.
  • Experience in claim preparation on contract types such as schedule of rates, unit rates and lump sum
  • Experience in the energy, mining and/or construction industry is desirable.
  • Experience in utilizing SAP, ERP software such as PRONTO and PowerBI is desirable.
  • Experience in analysing and reporting against large volumes of data.
  • Be autonomous and self‐driven to complete tasks at hand whilst striving for continuous improvement.
  • Advanced proficiency with the MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel and ability to build models based on contract structures
