Blackwood is a design-and-construct builder founded to solve our own development challenges — and we've since grown into a respected name delivering custom residential projects tailored to land, lifestyle, and budget. We don't do cookie-cutter builds. Every home is designed and delivered with purpose, precision, and people at the centre.
Our values guide everything we do:
We Put People First | We Are Solution Focused | We Are Genuine | We Collaborate | We Are Role Models
We're now inviting the next generation of construction professionals to grow with us.
If you're a construction student or recent graduate with a passion for residential building — and you're hungry to learn, contribute, and grow — this is your foot in the door.
The Role – Learn, Contribute, and Build a Career That MattersAs our Cadet Estimator / Contract Administrator, you'll gain hands-on experience across estimating, procurement, and contract administration — supporting custom residential projects from early feasibility to site handover.
You will:
-
Assist with quantity take-offs, pricing, and supplier quotes
-
Support pre-construction tasks including cost planning and tender documentation
-
Learn the ins and outs of contract admin — including RFI and variation processes
-
Shadow and support Estimators and PMs during live jobs and client meetings
-
Gain exposure to custom residential builds from $1M to $5M
-
Work closely with senior staff across design, delivery, and finance
As you grow within the team, you'll continue to develop skills across:
-
Detailed cost analysis, supplier negotiations & procurement
-
Contract compliance, project setup and progress tracking
-
Communication with consultants, clients and site teams
-
Commercial awareness and margin understanding
-
Reporting, forecasting, and software (Buildxact, Xero, Jack App etc.)
