About the Business and the Role

Singh Homes is an award-winning, fast-growing, Australian-owned residential builder specialising in the design and construction of high-quality custom homes across Victoria. With a strong reputation for excellence, innovation, and client satisfaction, we deliver over 150–200 custom build projects each year—ranging from greenfield sites to knock-down rebuilds.

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our expanding team. This role is critical to our pre-construction process and requires someone with strong analytical and industry knowledge who can prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for residential building projects.

As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for:

• Preparing detailed cost estimates, take-offs, and BOQs based on construction plans, specifications, and client selections

• Conducting quantity surveying and cost analysis for custom homes from concept through to construction documentation

• Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments to obtain accurate pricing and ensure estimates reflect current market rates

• Working closely with the Sales, Drafting, and Construction teams to ensure quotes align with project scope and design intent

• Identifying cost-saving opportunities and providing value engineering suggestions where applicable

• Assisting in tender preparation, contract documentation, and post-contract variation assessments

• Ensuring timely and accurate handover of documentation to construction and accounts teams

• Maintaining a database of pricing and unit rates and updating regularly based on supplier changes and market trends

• Managing multiple estimating jobs simultaneously and working to deadlines

Skills and Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Minimum 3–5 years' experience as an Estimator in residential construction (volume or custom home experience preferred)

• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes

• Proficiency in estimating software (such as Databuild, Buildxact, or equivalent)

• High attention to detail, with excellent numerical and analytical skills

• Strong time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines

• Excellent written and verbal communication

• Ability to interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications

• Sound knowledge of the residential construction cost structure and supplier/subcontractor market

• Relevant qualifications in Building, Construction Management, or Estimating
