Primary objective

Lead the corporate governance function and departmental activities through the development, implementation and

monitoring of effective governance policies, risk management practices and internal audit programs.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Lead the internal audit function and promote continuous improvement across the agency.

2. Develop and maintain the agency-wide risk management framework and tools and support divisions to conduct

operational risk assessments.

3. Oversee and managed internal and external audits, reviews, investigations and similar consultancies.

4. Drive culture change in relation to internal controls, compliance and promote a positive risk culture.

5. Provide leadership, staff management and technical oversight of a small team on internal audits and model the standard

for integrity and professionalism.

6. Provide secretariat services to relevant committees.

7. Develop, implement and maintain agency governance frameworks and policies, that foster good governance aimed at

ensuring accountability, transparency and integrity.

8. Provide high level advice to the Chief Executive, Senior Director and the agency's executives.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated capability to build and lead a high performing governance team, and in building governance capability

across an organisation.

2. Extensive experience in leading internal audit, risk management and fraud control functions.

3. Experience in managing outsourced audits and consultancy engagements.

4. Senior level interpersonal, communication and writing skills, particularly the preparation of high-quality reports, policies,

submissions and briefings.

5. Demonstrated experience in providing objective and strategic advice to Chief Executive Officers, senior executives and

audit and risk committees on governance, risk and integrity matters.

6. A professional work ethic with values aligned to DCDD's principles of commitment to service, innovation, ethical practice,

accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.

Desirable

1. Degree in business, accounting, management or public administration.

2. Qualifications in conducting investigations.

3. Membership of a relevant recognised professional body.
