What You Will Be Doing
In 2017 the Victorian Department of Mental Health and Wellbeing established 'Balit Marrup', Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Framework. An objective of this framework is to increase opportunities and representation of First Nations People in the mental health workforce.
Peninsula Health Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PHMHWS) acknowledges and values the lived experience of our service consumers, carers and supports inclusive of their individual culture, resourcefulness, strengths and abilities. As such, delivering the Aboriginal Mental Health Traineeship is a valued opportunity for the organisation.

What You Need
We anticipate you will have:
- Willingness and eligibility to complete a three-year full-time Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) degree at Charles Sturt University via distance including four one week-long-residential intensives per year
- Applicants must be of Australian Aboriginal descent, identify as an Aboriginal person and be able to provide confirmation of Aboriginality ( as defined by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies - refer to Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies )
- The applicant is interested in improving the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal Victorians
- Demonstrates and maintains satisfactory academic results
