About the Psychology Department

The Psychology Department promotes the highest level of care and psychological support for our patients. The department leads and excels in research, teaching and the use of person-centred evidence-based practice.  As a team based in General Health, we work with a range of medical specialists and allied health professionals collaborating to achieve best possible patient outcomes. We are a dedicated team who value connection and collaboration and provide a supportive environment to learn and develop.

About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychology Registrar (Grade 2) to take up a varied and interesting clinical role working across two rotations in the oncology and inpatient rehabilitation wards.

A regular day will see you:   

  • Providing psychological interventions to outpatients receiving cancer care at the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre and inpatients with a range of medical conditions undergoing subacute rehabilitation at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.
  • Adopt a flexible approach to clinical caseload management and the provision of care that might include individual and group programs.
  • Work collaboratively within a broader multidisciplinary team to deliver psychological assessment and intervention to patients.

About you 

To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Psychology Board of Australia and working towards or be eligible for enrolment in the AHPRA Registrar Program, endorsement in Clinical Psychology by February
  • Keen to work within multidisciplinary teams. 
  • An interest in gaining experience working within a general health inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient clinical settings.
  • An ability to conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and interventions with patients with health issues, including cancer and chronic medical conditions.
  • High level interpersonal skills that promote teamwork and engagement.  
  • A growth mindset with desire to consolidate and continually develop your psychological skills
