The Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild is entering a new era, and we're looking for two non-executive directors and a Board Chair to join our refreshed board for a two-year term, commencing 1 Jan 2026.

This is a
voluntary governance leadership opportunity
where you'll:

  • Help guide the Guild next strategic evolution
  • Mentor student leaders
  • Partner with the CEO as a sounding board and strategist
  • Contribute your expertise in governance, finance, law, HR, operations, student experience or NFPs
  • Play a role in strengthening independent student voice

The Roles

We're looking for 2 x Non-Executive Directors (Board Members) and a Board Chair to support our new Board of five elected student representatives. Together with the Guild team, the Board will be focused on building a sustainable, future-ready Student Guild that champions student voice and enriches campus life.

As
Board Chair
, you'll be a dynamic and engaging leader, with both a passion for student organisations and a strong understanding of the student services sector. You'll have demonstrated experience working on or with Boards and Committees, and will be committed to mentoring and developing student leaders. You'll be a key partner of the CEO, advocating for Guild interests and providing strategic advice and guidance.

As a
Non-Executive Director
, you'll provide insights and expertise in relevant fields, chair sub-committees, mentor student leaders, and provide critical oversight and guidance on strategic issues. You'll also have a strong understanding of the impact of student organisations and champion the value of student leadership and representation.

Time Commitment

Approx 6 Board meetings per year, plus two Committee meetings per quarter.

Most meetings are held in person, with flexibility for adhoc remote attendance. Travel costs are reimbursable for those not residing in the SE QLD area.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking applicants with:

  • Extensive professional experience and/or qualifications in governance, finance, legal, HR, operations, student services or not-for-profit/community sectors;
  • Strong mentoring and interpersonal skills
  • A passion for student services, co-curricular engagement, and leadership development
  • Prior Board or Committee experience (essential for Chair)
