If you are passionate about creating industry-leading controls software for PLCs and/or other real time controller platforms and you're eager to take on a role where you develop higher-level software tools/applications to streamline the configuration and deployment of controls software products, this may be the ideal opportunity for you. 

Partnering with Dematic/KION's Global Controls Software R&D team, you will deliver innovative controls software products that support a diverse range of warehouse automation and distribution solutions. This is an exceptional opportunity for a Controls Software Engineer/Developer to join our talented Australian development team and make a significant impact within the field of material handling automation.

As a logistics solutions system integrator, Dematic delivers highly complex, full warehouse solutions including a full range of materials handling and storage systems linked with advanced warehouse software. Our goal is to continually improve the supply chain. Our customers include businesses of all sizes in the industries of eCommerce, retail, manufacturing, exporting, parcel services, and many others.  By collaborating with the Global Controls Software R&D team, you'll have the chance to see your innovative technology solutions come to life as they're implemented by Project Engineering teams around the world.  

Tasks and Qualifications:

WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON

Reporting to the Director of Controls Software Development in Australia, you will be part of a team that follows the Scrum software development framework. To thrive in this role, bring:

  • A passion for excellence, a keen and proven interest in software and programming as well as robotics and automation, the ability to work in a team environment, the technical skill to produce software (PLC and higher-level) of a high quality, and the drive to complete tasks within the required time frame

  • An understanding of professional software development. During development, focus will be on producing high quality software. This includes aspects of designing, developing, testing, documenting, enhancing, and supporting this software

  • Be able to set standards within your assigned technical area and mentor more junior engineers

  • Be able to work collaboratively with peer technical leads with the intention of standardising development amongst global development teams.

SETTING YOU UP FOR SUCCESS

  • 2+ years' experience as a Controls Software Engineer

  • We will also consider honour grads with demonstrated project experience

  • Bachelor or higher degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science

  • Experience: PLC or real-time controller programming

  • Experience: designing, developing software using a higher-level or object-oriented language such as C#, C++, C, Python, Java, Visual Basic, etc.

  • Agile development environment is beneficial

  • Some experience: HMI/SCADA/GUI development is beneficial

  • Hands-on experience within the Automated Material Handling Systems or similar industry is beneficial.

  • Australian citizenship/PR
