Biodiversity Advisor – Make a Difference for Nature and Community
Are you passionate about protecting biodiversity and shaping a sustainable future? Join Banyule City Council as our Biodiversity Advisor and lead the way in conserving and enhancing our natural environment.

About The Role
As Biodiversity Advisor, you'll play a key role in delivering Council's biodiversity conservation strategies, plans and projects. You'll champion an integrated approach to biodiversity protection and management across the municipality.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, implement and evaluate the Biodiversity Strategy and related conservation plans.
  • Embed biodiversity principles into Council planning, decision-making and service delivery.
  • Deliver strategic biodiversity projects aligned with the Biodiversity Strategy.
  • Oversee a range of community biodiversity programs such as Gardens for Wildlife and the Spring Outdoors Program.
  • Provide expert advice to Council, the community and stakeholders, advocating for and maximising biodiversity outcomes in Banyule

What we are looking for/what you'll bring – skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a field relevant to environmental science or similar discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in biodiversity conservation and program design and delivery.
  • Excellent strategic understanding, with the ability to establish mechanisms and processes that align with Council's long-term objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to liaise with stakeholders and advocate for best practice environmental outcomes.
  • Strong people management skills, with experience in providing mentoring and coaching to junior staff.
  • Knowledge and skills in practices of financial budgeting and financial reporting processes.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • Current Driver's Licence

  • Salary range $98,255.0- $106,820.88 per annum plus super
  • A permanent, full-time, position with a monthly RDO
  • 26 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/4 weeks of paid parental leave – partner.
