Veterinary Referral Hospital (VRH) is a leading multi-disciplinary referral hospital and 24/7 emergency centre located in Melbourne's South-East. Our purpose-built facility supports a collaborative team of specialists across Surgery, Medicine, Neurology, Radiology, Anaesthesia, and Critical Care.
Our emergency department is supported by a dedicated ICU, advanced imaging (CT, MRI, fluoroscopy), and a full suite of diagnostic and interventional tools. Job Description
This 12-month ECC Internship offers an outstanding opportunity to work alongside experienced Emergency and Critical Care clinicians in a busy, well-equipped hospital.
As an ECC Intern, you will:
- Assist with emergency cases and critical care management
- Work as a primary clinician under supervision
- Participate in diagnostics, treatment planning, and post-operative care
- Work a flexible roster that includes evenings/nights, weekends and public holidays
- Engage in structured learning including journal club, tutorials, and case presentations
- Receive one-on-one mentoring and support from ECC specialists and senior clinicians
- Be part of a passionate, friendly team committed to delivering high-quality care and supporting your professional development.
About you
The successful applicant will have:
- A veterinary degree (DVM, BVSc or equivalent) recognised in Australia
- Eligibility for registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of Victoria
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment
- A proactive, hands-on approach to patient care
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth
- Previous clinical experience or a rotating internship is desirable but not essential

This role is available to commence in February 2026 although the start date can be flexible if needed.
