We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of our removal and courier services. This role suits someone who thrives both on the tools and in a leadership capacity — balancing on-road operational work with planning, coordination, and staff development. Experience in removals is essential and someone looking to progress and manage more is best suited for this position.

The Operations Manager will work approximately 70% in the field (driving, leading removal teams, and ensuring service quality) and 30% on operations and administration, ensuring jobs run efficiently, clients are satisfied, and our team performs at its best along with ad-hoc admin tasks like quoting/meetings etc. will be part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily job schedules, team allocations, and route planning to ensure timely and efficient completion of removals and deliveries.
  • Supervise on-site operations across residential, commercial, and courier jobs, maintaining a high standard of safety, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Lead by example — drive vehicles, assist with loading/unloading, and problem-solve on the spot when required.

Staff Training & Development

  • Train and mentor new and existing staff on packing, lifting techniques, client interaction, and company policies.
  • Monitor individual performance and provide feedback or corrective action where necessary.
  • Ensure all staff maintain compliance with safety regulations, parking laws, and vehicle care standards.

Job Coordination & Communication

  • Act as the central link between on-site crews and the office team, ensuring smooth communication regarding job progress, changes, or issues.
  • Handle client queries and resolve operational challenges quickly and professionally.
  • Ensure job sheets, checklists, and Google Forms are completed accurately and submitted promptly.

Administration & Scheduling (approx. 30%)

  • Manage shift rosters and allocate resources based on workload and team availability.
  • Track vehicle usage, fuel, and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist with quoting, invoicing follow-ups, and reporting on job performance and costs where required.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years' experience in removals, logistics, and transport with a desire to manage and lead.
  • Full clean NSW Drivers Licence is essential with the desire to obtain a MR or HR truck licence.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with various nationalities and ages.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient with basic digital tools (e.g. Google Workspace, job forms, spreadsheets).
  • Physically fit and able to participate in manual handling when required.
