Headquartered in Noosa, Australia, our team has built a scalable and sustainable production platform. We are now expanding global operations, bringing Surf'N'Turf to market, and advancing our pipeline of algae-derived products to serve agriculture, consumer, and therapeutic markets.

The Engineering Manager leads, develops, and supports the engineering team while remaining hands-on in design, problem-solving, and delivery. This role owns technical execution across mechanical, electrical, software/controls, and systems engineering, ensuring robust, scalable solutions for production, R&D, and new facility build-outs.

Responsibilities:

• Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing team.
• Work with assembly supervisor on building out manufacturing plant and systems
• Work hands-on with engineers and manufacturing on design, prototyping, reviews, and troubleshooting.
• Define and maintain engineering best practices, documentation standards, and development processes.
• Lead technical strategy and system architecture across mechanical, electrical, controls, and instrumentation.
• Partner closely with R&D, Production, Quality, and Maintenance to deliver reliable, manufacturable systems.
• Oversee engineering project planning, resource allocation, timelines, and execution.
• Drive continuous improvement across our tank systems, plumbing/electrical assemblies, automation, and bioprocess infrastructure.
• Support installation, commissioning, and debugging of equipment and production systems.
• Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders on priorities, risks, progress, and technical decisions.
• Champion innovation and introduce new tools, technologies, and automation approaches that improve reliability and scalability.

Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, or Senior Engineer guiding a small to mid-size team.
• Strong practical engineering background — mechanical, electrical, systems, or industrial automation (hands-on experience essential).
• Experience delivering engineered systems in biotech, agtech, manufacturing, or industrial environments is highly valued.
• Comfortable working on the floor with technicians and engineers to diagnose issues and validate designs.
• Experience scaling engineering teams and processes in a commercial or production-focused organisation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with IoT, robotics, process automation, or industrial instrumentation.
• Understanding of bioprocessing, cultivation systems, or lab/industrial equipment preferred.
• Exposure to cloud data platforms, control systems, or ML/analytics integration is an advantage.
• Passion for sustainability, engineering excellence, and building technology that matters.
