The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and motivated
Nurse Unit Manager – Theatres
to lead our perioperative team at
Cairns Private Hospital
. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the management of our operating theatres, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care.
You will work closely with the Assistant Director of Clinical Services – Procedural, while leading a skilled nursing team, supporting clinical decision-making, and driving service excellence.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support theatre staff to deliver safe, patient-centred care.
- Oversee daily operations, including theatre bookings, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with safety, accreditation, and governance standards.
- Drive continuous improvement and quality initiatives across the department.
- Mentor and develop staff through education, orientation, and professional support.
- Build strong relationships with VMOs, patients, and stakeholders.
About You
You are a confident and collaborative leader with strong perioperative expertise and a passion for patient care.
You will have:
- Current AHPRA registration.
- Minimum 5 years' postgraduate experience in an acute care environment.
- Demonstrated perioperative nursing experience.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support teams.
- Experience with rostering and resource management.
Highly regarded:
- Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing, management, or leadership.
- Previous experience in a senior leadership or management role.
Remuneration
A base hourly rate ranging from
$ $71.24
+ superannuation based on relevant experience and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances. (QLD NUM/MUM level 1 – 4).
