Most operations are conducted in Britten-Norman Islanders, providing robust remote-area capability. Our maintenance partner, Tableland Aircraft Maintenance, underpins our commitment to safety and operational efficiency.

The Role

We are seeking a Training & Checking Pilot to provide Line Training and ICUS coverage, supporting Horn Island operations as the current HOFO/HOTC transitions to a FIFO role while on maternity leave. Due to the nature of this position and the ongoing need for training continuity, a short term contract role is not desired.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to maintaining operational standards and pilot development within our Part 135 operations. For those interested, there is potential for mentoring and progression toward Head of Flight Operations (HOFO) and Head of Training & Checking (HOTC) positions — though this is not required.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct line training, ICUS supervision, and proficiency checks in accordance with company and CASA standards.

Deliver high-quality instruction and constructive feedback to line pilots.

Support the continuous improvement of SOPs, training programs, and checking procedures.

Mentor pilots to enhance safety, proficiency, and confidence in remote and wet-season conditions.

Liaise with Flight Operations and Maintenance to ensure training outcomes align with operational needs.

Mandatory Requirements

Current Flight Instructor Rating

Part 135 operations experience

Wet-season experience

Desirable

Multi-Engine Training Approval (training can be provided).

Part 135 Training & Checking experience.

Strong coaching and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
