JOB TITLE: Orthoptist

JOB TYPE:

Part time Mondays/Casual.

LOCATION:

Inner East Eye Surgeons.

Level 12 Suite 1, East Wing, Epworth Eastern, 1 Arnold Street, Box Hill, VIC.

SUPERVISOR/MANAGERS:

Karen Mill and Dr Jonathan Kam

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide high quality standards of patient care
• Work within an Ethically and Legally Sound framework - Ensure the delivery of clinical services is in line with best evidence based practice and the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHSS).
• General Ophthalmology assessment including: History taking, Visual Acuity, Subjective Refraction, Vertometry, Goldman Tonometry & other Tonometry, Pachymetry, Pupil Reactions, Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT), Colour Vision Testing, Visual Field Testing, IOL Master, A Scan, Keratometry, Retinal Photography, Corneal Topography
• Orthoptic Assessments: CT/PBCT/PBFR/MW/OM/CNP/Stereo acuity, Fresnel Prism Fitting, Bangerter Foil Fitting
• Work with our team to help manage patient load
• Work across all the specialties within the Clinic including, Strabismus, Retinal, Glaucoma, Corneal, Inflammatory and Oculoplastics.
• Participates in quality audits and other quality processes.
• Other duties as directed by the Senior Ophthalmologist or Clinician. Eg. Ordering equipment/stock, surgical bookings, organising operating lists,

calculation and ordering of toric IOL's,

surgical audit/research, helping with practice management.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualification in Orthoptics.

Other: Up to date COVID-19 Vaccination

Experience:

1-2 years' experience in clinical work desirable although applications from upcoming graduates will be considered.

Skills:

• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in orthoptics and ophthalmic assessment.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the provision of orthoptic services.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Demonstrated communication skills
