About The Team
The Natural Areas Conservation (NAC) business unit sits within the Conservation Branch and forms part of the broader Environment, Heritage and Resilience Department. The unit is responsible for the day-to-day management and conservation of a 14,000-hectare estate. Through the NaturallyGC program, the team supports community awareness and conservation outcomes by delivering environmental education and hands-on Landcare activities, engaging more than 15,000 participants each year.
We're looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented NaturallyGC Landcare Officer to ensure the smooth operation of our vital NaturallyGC conservation program. Your primary focus will be the detailed planning, contract management, and logistical coordination of all community conservation activities, including tree planting and bush regeneration.

About Your New Role
This role requires strong administrative skills and the ability to effectively engage and manage external providers, volunteers, and internal stakeholders to enhance native vegetation and support long-term ecological health across the city.
In this position, you will work closely and build working relationships with volunteers, external providers, contractors, internal staff, and other teams within the Conservation Branch to achieve positive environmental outcomes.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of community Landcare initiatives
- Manage a variety of project and event related administration tasks, including site planning, mapping, budget, enquiries, event registration platforms, procurement, report writing, plant species guides, data collection and monitoring
- Coordinate ecological restoration contractors for site preparation and maintenance
- Lead and attend tree plantings, guided walks, and other environmental events. This will involve some weekend work including on-call
- Assist with strategic long-term program planning and actively seek opportunities for improvements
- Develop and improve volunteer WH&S, program procedures and upskilling staff and volunteers
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Perform high administrative tasks that help deliver the daily operations of the wider NaturallyGC program.
We're Looking For People That Have
- A degree or certificate in an environmental related field or equivalent relevant experience
- Previous experience working within in a similar role ideally in conservation program/environment
- Experience facilitating community conservation initiatives, including tree planting, bush regeneration, and citizen science events (or similar)
- High efficiencies in project management and administrative tasks
- C Class Drivers Licence
- QLD working with children Blue Card (or the ability to obtain one)
- Physical fitness for duty.
