We're seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to support the General Manager in the day-to-day operation of Katherine Country Club. You'll help deliver an outstanding member and guest experience while ensuring high standards in compliance, gaming and bar operations, finance, people leadership, and safety.
Relocation to Katherine, NT is required for this role.
About the role
Reporting to the General Manager, you'll play a hands-on leadership role across the venue, taking charge of operations on shift and stepping in under delegation when required. You'll coordinate promotions and events, oversee cash and stock controls, and support a safe, compliant, and welcoming workplace.
Roster: Rotating roster including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Key responsibilities
· Lead day-to-day venue operations, including gaming, bar, and functions.
· Oversee end-of-day processes (EFT/cash, TITO, meter reads, reconciliations) and maintain tight cash control.
· Manage accounts payable/receivable processes, and assist with financial reporting.
· Own stock control for the bar: ordering, receiving, and accurate POS/BOH entry.
· Drive HR/IR activities: recruitment, onboarding, rostering, coaching, and performance management.
· Ensure compliance with liquor and gaming legislation and responsible gambling practices.
· Coordinate gaming/bar promotions, club theme nights, and support social media activity.
· Liaise with police/licensing and handle CCTV requests as required.
· Prepare reports for the Board and provide operational updates to the GM.
· Champion WHS standards and a clean, safe venue.
What you'll bring (Essential)
· Proven experience as an Assistant Manager/2IC/Duty Manager in a high-volume club, RSL, hotel, or similar venue.
A minimum of 3-5 years of management experience in hospitality or tourism is required.
· Current RSA, RSG, Machine Manager Licence, Keno and TAB certificates (or ability to obtain).
· Demonstrated expertise in gaming (pokies) operations, including TITO systems, meter reads, reconciliations, and compliance records.
· Strong close/lock-up capability on busy nights with impeccable cash control.
· Hands-on functions and events coordination.
· People leadership across recruiting, rostering, coaching, and performance.
· Solid knowledge of liquor & gaming regulatory requirements and responsible gambling.
· Confident with POS/BOH systems and Excel/Google Sheets; able to interpret P&L drivers.
· Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and service recovery skills.
· Ability to juggle multiple priorities and perform under pressure.
Australian permanent work rights are required for this position.
Nice to have (Preferred)
- Qualifications in venue management, business administration, or finance.
- Approved Manager / Gaming Manager authorisations; First Aid/CPR.
- National Police Check and driver licence.
