About The Role

We currently have a vacancy for a full time, Canberra-based Senior Accountant to join the team. More experienced candidates may also be considered for a Manager role.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Preparing and reviewing complex financial statements and other accounting reports for our clients
  • Managing all aspects of the financial reporting cycle including monthly and year-end processes, facilitation of external audit and reporting to audit committees
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to clients on accounting and taxation matters
  • Collaborating with clients to implement, review and maintain efficient accounting processes and controls
  • Budget management, reporting and finance business partnering
  • Mentoring and developing junior members of the accounting team
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements

About You

Along with strong work ethic and previous experience in a similar position you will have/be:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field required
  • Senior Accountant level with 3+ years of experience and studying towards/achieved CA/CPA
  • Manager level with CA/CPA and 5-8+ years relevant experience - 8+ years of post-qualification experience in a senior accounting role, preferably within a professional services firm
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for Commonwealth Government work (incl Australian citizenship)
  • Experience working with or in Commonwealth entities is highly desirable
  • Proven expertise in preparing financial statements and other complex accounting reports
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercially-focused advice
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring junior team members
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients
  • This role would be ideal for a first mover from Big 4/mid-tier firms.
