The Accountant will play a vital role in managing the financial operations of the business, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintaining compliance with taxation and regulatory obligations, and upholding robust internal control systems. This role will support both operational and strategic financial decision-making. This includes budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and contributing to the continuous improvement of financial processes in a fast paced Retail and Service Sector in the Automotive Industry.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Collate financial reports for 2 branches, analysing and reporting discrepancies, budget losses/gains and cash flow activities to stake holders
• Develop and implement internal accounting systems
• Prepare and analyse operational costs and variance reports presenting to Directors and Shareholders monthly
• Budget preparation, profit forecasting, cash management and payroll
• Manage international import and distribution forecasting and budgets reporting
• Review, develop and implementation of internal accounting control systems
• Preparation of monthly & annual financial statements for presentation to directors, shareholders and external Accountants
• Managing and ensuring compliance with ATO and regulatory tax requirements,including BAS, PAYG, and payroll tax.
• Advise on strategic planning and business planning
• Stock Control analysis for our International and Australian distribution, reporting on slow moving stock, low GP percentages including variation discrepancies
• Completing all tax-related schedules to be used for management and external Accountants
• Asset management
• Liaising with external accountants, auditors, banks, and stakeholders as required
• Require to travel between branches weekly

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have a bachelor's or Masters in accounting and experience in a similar working environment.

• Minimum 2 year of experience in a similar Accountant (General) role
• analytical thinking, and problem-solving skill
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work autonomously to strict deadlines
• Knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation legislation, and payrollsystems
• Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting
• Possess a strong willingness to learn, combined with the ability to effectively communicate and liaise at all levels of an organisation including stakeholders
• Excellent time management skills and the drive to meet all deadlines as required
• Attention to detail and accuracy with a focus on compliance with internal procedures
• Advanced skills with MYOB, Mpower and Microsoft Business Suite are an essential selection criteria.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $76,515.00 – $80,000.00 per year
