The Rockhampton Grammar School is seeking passionate and experienced Dance Instructors to join our team to help inspire and develop the next generation of dancers.

POSITION TITLE: Dance Instructor
CLASSIFICATION: Casual
REPORTS TO: Head of DMTA
BASIC FUNCTION: Provide dance classes to groups and individual students
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties of the Dance Instructor are:
- Create a positive learning environment that enhances the student's experience;
- Establish and review students' learning goals/outcomes and modify programmes accordingly;
- Build relationships with staff and share teaching insights with colleagues about students' development and progress;
- Communicate with parents about student learning;
- Demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to professional development;
- Maintain accurate records and meet deadlines; and
- Any other duties as defined by the Head of DMTA.
REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
Dance qualifications in any dance facet would be an advantage;
Experience in teaching dance and choreographing routines for various age groups and in various dance genres;
- Ability to provide a disciplined, engaging and positive classroom environment;
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build rapport and interact effectively with staff, students and parents;
- A solution orientated person, with an ability and a desire to identify and bring about significant improvement and streamlining of processes, systems and record keeping;
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritise tasks, meet prescribed deadlines, and concurrently manage a number of competing tasks;
- Excellent attention to detail and record management skills;
- Ability to work within a team environment and strive to achieve the current and future goals of the Academy; and
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Power Point.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card);
- Police Check; and
- Safeguarding Children Online Training Certificate.
SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
The School takes child protection seriously, and as a staff member or volunteer of The Rockhampton Grammar School, you are required to meet the behaviour standards outlined in our Practice and Behaviour Guidelines. You will receive a copy of these guidelines as part of the induction process.
Therefore, as a part of your duties and responsibilities, you are also required to:
- Provide a welcoming and safe environment for children and young people;
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people to whom we provide services;
- Ensure that your interactions with children and young people are positive and safe;
- Provide adequate care and supervision of children and young people in your charge;
- Act as a positive role model for children and young people;
- Report any suspicions, concerns, allegations or disclosures of alleged abuse to management;
- Maintain valid "working with children" documentation;
- Undergo periodic "national criminal history record" checks; and
- Report to management any criminal charges or convictions you receive during the course of your employment that may indicate a possible risk to children and young people.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The successful applicant will be subject to a "Working with Children Check and Criminal Records Check" where applicable. The School undertakes several screening processes to ensure the appropriate protection of children and young people in its care. This includes reference checks, identity checks qualification check and professional registration checks.
