The role
We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Manager to establish and lead laboratory operations for our site in Sydney, Australia. This role is central to the development and optimization of Syenta's localized electrodeposition process, ensuring results that are repeatable, reliable, and of the highest quality.
The ideal candidate will bring strong laboratory management experience, a commitment to safety, and expertise in materials characterization. A background in semiconductor or cleanroom environments is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations for the Sydney, Australia team
- Ensure a safe working environment, maintaining compliance with all health and safety standards
- Manage laboratory budgets, procurement, and inventory to support team operations
- Oversee equipment calibration, maintenance, and accurate documentation
- Evaluate new laboratory equipment/tools, techniques, and processes, presenting recommendations to stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement in laboratory procedures, safety, and efficiency
Key Expectations
- Work closely with international cross-functional teams including materials scientists, chemists, and engineers to support product development
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and productivity within the laboratory team
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Process Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in laboratory management
- Proven knowledge of laboratory operations, safety standards, and compliance
- Strong organizational and budgeting skills
- Experience in cleanroom or semiconductor environments (preferred)
