About the role
Sitting within the City Presentation team and reporting to the Horticulture Team Leader, this position is to assist with the development and maintenance of horticulture assets including the Orange Botanic Gardens. The Orange community takes great pride in the City's green infrastructure; 'Our Colour City' theme and therefore Council aims to maintain these assets in the best possible condition and presentation for the public.
Job/Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain plant collections, gardens and trees to a high standard.
- Operate small plant according to standard work practices in liaison with the Team Leader/Supervisor
- Assist in the implementation of new landscape works within the Horticulture Services Unit and with the refurbishment of existing garden
- Irrigation installation and maintenance
- Assist with Database entry

So what do you need?
Demonstrated experience in a similar role working in the maintenance of public open spaces including plant collections, turf care and a variety of landscape styles
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent
- Knowledge of plant identification and classification of native & exotic species
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- NSW General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- ChemCert AQF3 Chemical Accreditation or similar
- A genuine passion for horticulture and a curiosity of plants
