The RoleWe are looking for a motivated and independent mechatronic, control systems or electrical engineer to support our team on a casual bassis to assist with our ongoing research and development activities as well as our project delivery requirements.
Experienced candidates are encouraged to apply if this job appeals highly to them, with work available for an immediate start.
Typical roles and responsibilities will include:
- Design of LV and ELV electrical control systems including drafting of electrical schematics.
- PLC code development and testing
- SCADA system development and deployment. Experience with Ignition SCADA is beneficial.
- General engineering related project support such as remote commissioning assistance
The successful candidate will be confident in completing some or all of the tasks listed above with guidance from our existing team.
There is also the option to be involved in the following areas of our business depending on your skillset and preferences:
- Mechanical design or design review using 3D CAD software
- Cloud server configuration/management
- Research and development – participation in our internal R&D activities before they are released commercially for our clients
This role would suit an experienced engineer that is highly motivated, resourceful, and can work well independently who is looking for an opportunity to add a few hours per week to their existing routine. The role will be casual with the workload dictated by our project workload and the candidates availability. The average amount of work available is expected to be 2-6 hours per week.
As a small company with a wide range of technical deliverables ICS offers our workers the opportunity to satisfy their curiosity from electrical and instrumentation to code development, telemetry and IT.
There may be the opportunity to increase the workload or become a full-time member of ICS during 2026 due to significantly increased project quoting which would require additional team members for 2026 and beyond if ICS is ultimately successful.
LocationThe candidate will be expected to have an adequate workplace available to complete their tasks. The role is completely remote so the candidate can be based anywhere they wish.
RequirementsThe successful candidate will have the following:
- A University or Associate degree in mechatronics, control systems or electrical engineering,
- 4+ years experience in electrical control systems/automation/mechatronics related fields.
- Ability to work independently,
- Passion for developing and delivering high quality technological solutions.
