Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across three campuses in the north-east of Melbourne and statewide. We have a highly engaged, diverse and collaborative workforce that is unified by our goal to help people live healthy and fulfilled lives.
About Victorian Poisons Centre
The Victorian Poisons Centre provides advice to the Victorian Public and to health care providers about what to do if a person has been poisoned, has overdosed, has made a mistake with medicines or has been bitten/stung by a snake, spider, bee, wasp or other creature. We also provide statewide toxicology guidelines for health professionals.
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fellow to join the team in the Victorian Poisons Centre (VPC) and Austin Toxicology Service. Working alongside clinical toxicologists, specialists in poisons information, and alcohol and other drugs clinicians, you will spend two years training in the management of poisoned and envenomed patients, and honing expertise in the management of drug withdrawal states, while taking opportunities to engage in research and education.
You will join the on-call roster, helping manage referrals from across Victoria, with the support of an on-call consultant toxicologist, as well as contributing to the development of toxicology guidelines and policies. You will report directly to the Medical Director of the VPC but ultimately form part of a highly collaborative and diverse team, made up of a myriad skilled clinicians.
About you
To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:
- Registered medical practitioner in Victoria (or eligible for registration)
- Completion (or near completion) of relevant specialist training
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and education
