The opportunity
The Community Engagement Librarian - Sustainability and Wellbeing will focus on environmental sustainability and wellbeing, utilising the Social Determinants of Health, public health frameworks and local community needs to inform the priorities for learning, program and activity design.
The program of activities will build community knowledge in physical, mental, and social wellbeing, climate action and environmental justice, health equity, active lifestyles, local food systems and community resilience.
Additionally, the role will take a lead in managing relationships and building partnerships to foster strong connections between the community, relevant local stakeholder groups, the community sector and Council's service areas.
What you'll be working on:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate lifelong learning and wellbeing programs and outreach projects, informed by social determinants for health and aligned with the strategic goals of the Community Learning and Service Centres Department.
- Provide advice to the Department's senior leadership team on relevant subject matters, such as processes and procedures relating to sustainable living and wellbeing in collection development and programming.
- Deliver high-quality information and customer service, addressing first-contact resolutions.
- Assist library users with reference and information inquiries.
- Undertake collection management duties.
- Other duties as directed that are within the skills, knowledge and expectation requirements of the position.
- To act as Senior on Duty or supervise staff as required.
What you need to succeed:
- Experience or qualifications in Library and Information Management, Community Development, Community Engagement, teaching and program design or lesser qualifications with relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated skills in planning and delivering community programs, workshops or activities, particularly in areas related to wellbeing, sustainability, or lifelong learning.
- Ability to learn and apply community health and wellbeing frameworks to guide programming and service delivery
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders
