City of Newcastle (CN) is offering a fantastic Traineeship opportunity in Waste and Commercial Collections for motivated individuals who are committed to developing their skills and building a rewarding career in the waste services industry.

As a Trainee, you'll work alongside experienced professionals and rotate through a variety of operational areas — from general waste and garden organics to bulk waste and bin maintenance — while completing a Certificate IV in Waste Management and obtaining your Heavy Rigid (HR) driver licence upon successful completion of your Traineeship.

What is next?

If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of our recruitment process:   

You will be required to attend 1 x group assessment centre for a 3-hour period between Tuesday 30th September - Thursday 2nd October 2025.

If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of the recruitment process after the assessment centre:

You will be required to complete a Pre-employment medical scheduled to take place on Tuesday 7th - Tuesday, 14th October 2025.

Remuneration:  $37, % annual leave loading, yearly payment + 12% Superannuation per annum for a 38-hour week
