We're looking for an experienced Arboriculture professional who's passionate about their field and thrives on a challenge. At the City of Mandurah, change is part of daily life, so we value innovation, agility, proactivity, and enthusiasm.
Mandurah's parks, reserves, and streetscape tree assets are set within a unique coastal and estuarine landscape. These green spaces are central to our active lifestyle—contributing to cleaner air, providing shade along pedestrian routes, and supporting urban biodiversity.
As the City's Arboriculturist Specialist, you'll play a key role in shaping the long-term growth, health, and resilience of our urban forest. You'll lead the development and delivery of strategies that align with community goals for tree planting, preservation, and restoration. You'll also provide expert arboricultural advice, training, and mentoring to support best practice in tree planning, installation, maintenance, risk management, and protection across the organisation.

What can you bring to the team?
- Diploma Arboriculture (AQF level 5) or higher or demonstrated equivalent
- Qualified in QTRA, VALID or ISA-TRAQ.
- Demonstrated experience (5 years), in project supervision and contract management of arboriculture works/tree surgery within the public realm, including the interface of trees with services, roads, paving, structures and other street and park infrastructure assets.
- Demonstrated understanding of tree value and valuation processes including environmental values including wildlife habitat, conservation, ecology, and habitat corridors.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with experience in providing technical briefs and reports to senior level stakeholders on tree management issues.
- Experience in the implementation and monitoring of programs and systems relevant to quality tree management processes.
The finer details
This fulltime Level seven position attracts a pro-rata salary range of $108,804 to $115,610 gross per annum dependent on qualifications and experience and includes Restricted Private Use of a Council Vehicle. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
