FIS provides evidence-based screening, assessment and intervention services for individuals in custody and the community. We focus on areas such as violent and sexual offending, restorative justice, violent extremism and family violence.

This role is part of a team which provides a holistic range of advanced therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation services based on the complex, multi-faceted needs of people residing at Rivergum.

What you'll do

As the FIS Clinical Services Manager, Rivergum, you will:

  • Manage the delivery of offence-specific and offence-related intervention services (inclusive of drug and alcohol interventions) for residents at Rivergum in alignment with high-level government policy, legal, stakeholder and operational priorities.
  • Provide strategic direction, leadership and support to Rivergum clinical staff and operational staff, in order to create and maintain a therapeutic culture and environment, including fostering a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team approach
  • Manage individual staff and team performance, developmental training opportunities, supervision and quality assurance processes.
  • Lead ongoing service and quality improvements as part of the Rivergum senior management team to ensure continued alignment with service standards and evidence-based practice.
  • Prepare legal documents in accordance with responsibilities related to the Serious Offenders Act 2018.
  • Provide authoritative advice and leadership on emerging issues and trends, providing high-level guidance to senior managers and relevant external and internal stakeholders in relation to the management and treatment of people with high risk and complex needs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of business excellence and strategies for Corrections Victoria.

Skills Required

  • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership within a highly complex service delivery area, preferably in relation to individuals with multiple and complex needs and/or within a legislative framework.
  • Demonstrated substantial experience and expertise in the management and treatment addressing offending behaviour, mental health and/or substance use issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyse and apply current research evidence, methodology and approaches required for effective practice.
  • Sound knowledge of the principles of therapeutic communities.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is desirable. Extensive training and ongoing professional development is offered.

Eligibility

To apply for this role, you must be registered as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or hold a relevant qualification and have commensurate experience overseeing the delivery of therapeutic or clinical services.

Recognition to act as a Supervisor by the Psychology Board of Australia (or meeting the Psychology Board of Australia eligibility requirements for recognition as a Supervisor) is preferred.
